The Ride

I recently fell in love with biking again after a very long break. As a kid/teen I loved getting on my bike and riding around Brooklyn, NY, I’ve honestly been in every corner of Brooklyn because of my bike. After I started gaining weight riding wasn’t as much fun anymore and with time I gave up on it completely. After my hubby’s cousin gave me her bike I’ve made attempts and it was rather fun. However my body was changing and the amount of weight I was carrying around was in the way. I then promised myself that when I’m in a place that I can get off and on the bike again I would begin to ride. Let me tell you its been the most amazing fun getting back into it.

The bike feels like enough of a challenge but still super fun. I feel like I’m not only doing something for myself when it comes to physical health. The ride is also a big boost of mental health, when I ride alone its comforting and when I ride with others it’s a social hour. It’s my bonding time, it’s my therapy, somewhere I want to be and where I belong. The ride gives me what I need at that time. I’m so grateful to have my body be excited and challenged with a bike ride. It’s just a small part of my life that I didn’t realize was missing. It’s something I’ve been craving to have in my life for a while and I’m so glad it’s back.
